Selling Poppies

SELLING POPPIES

All my life, I have been selling Poppies.
I was not born to see the First World War.
Once they were real, but now they are copies.
One battle was plenty, but man wants more.

Another war came, with my turn to fight.
I was young and it was the thing to do.
To support our homeland, we thought was right.
And all my friends came to fight with me too.

So now I have a Poppy to sell you.
I have many medals on my lapel.
To earn these medals, was easy to do.
I had to stay and survive living hell.

Throughout the War, my friends died, one by one.
While I have been sad, they were having fun.

[I wish I had listened to the Medium]
